The prize fund grows with the number of entrants and is shared among the top finishers:
- 1st Place: 40% of the prize fund + trophy
- 2nd Place: 28% of the prize fund
- 3rd Place: 20% of the prize fund
- Rating Prize: 12% of the prize fund
Example: with 20 entries the prize fund is around £900 — roughly £350 / £250 / £175 / £100.
Prizes awarded by turnout: fewer than 6 entries, 1st place only; 6–14 entries, top 2 plus rating prize; 15+ entries, top 3 plus rating prize. Tied places share the combined prize equally. The prize fund is confirmed and published before Round 1.
Format
- 9-round Swiss system
- Time control: 60 minutes + 30 seconds per move
- Games start at 7:15pm sharp
- Venue must be vacated by 10:00pm
- One round per month (last Wednesday)
- ECF rated
Entry Information
- Entry fee: £75 for all 9 rounds
- Open to all — no minimum rating required
- Players must have an ECF membership (or be willing to join)
- Half-point byes available with advance notice (max 2)
- Default loss for no-show without notice
